The Beaver Dam girls basketball team is calling for Tuesday night’s basketball game at the BDHS Fieldhouse against Mount Horeb to be a “Blue Out.” All fans are asked to wear blue for World Cancer Day in honor of coach Tim Chase who is on medical leave battling colon cancer.
The three-time defending WIAA Division 2 state champions are 15-3 on the season and a perfect 10-0 in Badger North play. Mount Horeb is 8-8 on the year and 3-7 in league play.
The Golden Beavers are currently ranked #2 in both the wissports.net Coaches Poll and the Associated Press Media Poll behind Hortonville. Junior Maty Wilke leads BD in scoring at 16 points per contest. Junior Natalie Jens averages 15 points per game while senior Jada Donaldson (UW-Milwaukee recruit) is at 9ppg.
The Vikings come to Beaver Dam hoping to snap a four-game skid. Mount Horeb junior Julia Magnuson leads the team in scoring at 14.2 points per contest.
On December 19th, Beaver Dam outscored the Vikings 40-16 in the 2nd half to pull away for a 73-36 win. Jada Donaldson led three Beavers in double figures with 16 points. Maty Wilke added 15 and Natalie Jens 14. Grace Vesperman paced Mount Horeb with 11 points.
If you can’t get to the game on Tuesday, you can hear it live on 1430 WBEV. Mike Throndsen and Kirk Kaul will have the action. Pregame coverage begins at 7pm with the tip set for 7:15pm.
