6/5/11 – Although a HazMat team was called to Mitchell International Airport Friday afternoon, the white powder that brought on the evacuation of an airplane turned out to be what officials think is artificial sweetener. A flight attendant found the powder in a restroom during a pre-landing check, covered it with a paper towel and called authorities. Testing discovered the powder was a food substance and was harmless. A spokeswoman for the airport says operations at Mitchell International were not disrupted.
