(Kekoskee) A Hartford man is charged with running from Dodge County authorities. Matthew Maynard made his initial appearance in court Thursday on a felony charge of Fleeing. A sheriff’s deputy traveling eastbound on Highway 33 Wednesday (January 13th) reportedly clocked a vehicle going 13-miles-per-hour over the posted 55-mile-per-hour speed limit. The deputy attempted to catch up to the car which allegedly began accelerating up to 119-miles-per-hour. According to the criminal complaint, a short pursuit ensued through Kekoskee and ending when the vehicle stopped on South John Street in Mayville. Maynard reportedly said he fled because he was underage and had been drinking. The 18-year-old was put through field sobriety testing which determined he was not operating while under the influence. If convicted, Maynard faces no more than three-and-a-half years in prison. A signature bond was set at $1,000 and a judge will decide next month if there is enough evidence to order a trial.
