Ground Broken On Dollar General In Fox Lake

(Fox Lake) Ground was broken Wednesday on a Dollar General that is being constructed in Fox Lake. The company’s corporate office marketing planning team selected the site due to the city’s potential economic growth. Earlier this year, Leroy Meats opened their doors to a new business across the street from Dollar General and a Subway Restaurant is anticipated to open in the near future. Todd Platt with Platt Development Group is a lead developer on the project. He says around 2012 Dollar General begin looking for place around Fox Lake but nothing came to fruition. Platt says in the last 12 to 18 months a renewed interest by the city helped locate a place to build the store. The building will be 75-hundred square feet and is a prototype design launched by Dollar General a few years ago. The construction blueprint allows the company to open up stores in smaller communities. Platt says that Fox Lake is making a proactive effort to grow. Platt says crews will begin pouring the foundation today with completion slated for December 10. He says at the time the keys will be turned over to Dollar General who will take a few weeks to fixture and stock the store. An official grand opening is scheduled for some time around Christmas.
