(Green Lake) A Green Lake city police car was heavily damaged Tuesday after a teenager rammed into it with a stolen truck. The Green Lake County Sheriff’s dispatch center received a report just after 1pm that a cognitively impaired 17-year-old male left his home on foot. Chief Deputy Mark Putzke says the individual was known to local law enforcement who traveled to a location he frequently visited, the Green Lake County Highway Department. In route, police spotted the individual driving a red three-quarter ton pick-up belonging to the highway department. When authorities attempted to stop the truck, it struck a dump truck and then rammed into a police cruiser. Putzke says the individual continued driving westbound on Hill Street while pushing the squad car from the rear. The truck eventually got stuck at the end of Hill Street where police were able to disable the vehicle and take the suspect into custody. Putzke says the Wisconsin State Patrol is handling the vehicle crash incidents while the sheriff’s office will be referring charges to the district attorney. He says the investigation is still in progress.
