The Beaver Dam girls basketball fell to Grafton 49-43 in a WIAA Division Two Regional Final on Saturday afternoon at the BDHS Fieldhouse. The Golden Beavers jumped out to a 6-0 lead but fell behind 24-20 at the break. Grafton was able to extend their lead to double-digits before BD cut the deficit to one point late, but a Savannah James triple extended the lead to four just seconds later.
Gabby Wilke led BD with 17 points. Sarah Alkenavicius had 16 and Savannah James 15 for Grafton (17-9) who will take on Cedarburg next Thursday in a Sectional Semifinal.
The Golden Beavers season ends at 22-4.
The last time Beaver Dam dropped a Regional championship game was 2009.
