Governor Orders Flags At Half-Staff In Honor Of Joseph Kurer

(Fond du Lac) Governor Tony Evers has ordered that flags throughout the state be flown at half-staff in honor of Fond du Lac Police Officer Joseph Kurer Wednesday. The 28-year-old lost his life in the line of duty due to complications from COVID on September 22nd, just a day after his second child was born. Officer Kurer joined the Fond du Lac Police Department in 2018, after serving as Community Service Officer for the West Bend Police Department and the Wisconsin National Guard. He also earned decorations including the City of Fond du Lac Police Department Life Saving Award, Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, and Air Force Sergeants Association NCO of the Year as a Cadet Non-Commissioned Officer in the Civil Air Patrol. Kurer is the youngest person to die from COVID complications in Fond du Lac County. Funeral services are scheduled for today.
