The Watertown girls basketball team hosts Oregon (Overall: 15-4, Badger South: 11-2) tonight with hopes of staying in the Badger South Conference race. The Goslings (Overall: 14-5, Badger South: 9-2) currently sit a game and a half behind the Panthers in the league standings with just a week left in the regular season. A win by Watertown would pull them even with Oregon in the loss column. Watertown will finish the conference slate with road games at Monroe and Milton. After tonight, the Panthers lone league contest will be at Monona Grove on February 18th.
Both teams are red hot coming into tonight’s matchup as Watertown has won eight of their last nine and Oregon has run off 11 wins in their last 12 games.
Back on January 7th, Oregon protected their home floor with a 32-28 win. The Goslings held the Panthers 30 points below their season average in that loss.
In wissports.net’s preseason predictions, Oregon was picked as the conference favorite and Watertown was picked 6th in the eight team Badger South. The Gosling’s last conference championship came back in the 2005-06 season when they won the Wisconsin Little Ten Conference.
Tonight’s game tips at 7:15pm.
