The #1 ranked Beaver Dam girls basketball team improved to 8-0 on the season with a 72-33 win over Edgewood on Monday night at the BDHS Fieldhouse. There wasn’t much celebrating after the win for the Golden Beavers as University of Wisconsin recruit Maty Wilke left the game early in the first half with a right knee injury. Beaver Dam head coach Tim Chase told Mike Throndsen on the DailyDodge.com videostream postgame show that Wilke will have her knee looked at on Tuesday.
“She’ll head down to Madison tomorrow to see where she’s at.” Coach Chase said. “It’s one of those things until you get the pros to look at and take pictures or whatever they need to do to find out more. Such a great ball player and has done so many great things for us. And as great of a basketball player she is for us, she’s even a better person. So, we’re certainly hoping that everything is as best as it can be for her because she’s put so much time and effort into this game and just really has done so much for Beaver Dam basketball.”
Senior Natalie Jens led the way with 21 points. Freshman Gabby Wilke scored all 11 of her points in the 2nd half. Freshman Anni Salettel added 10.
The Golden Beavers schedule has changed a bit this week. Janesville Parker cancelled Tuesday night’s game and Sauk Prairie also cancelled Thursday’s contest. The JV’s will still play Sauk Prairie on Thursday. Beaver Dam will now travel to Oostburg on Friday along with their previously scheduled Saturday game at Janesville Parker.
