Golden Beaver Girls Have Challenging Road To 4th Title

The Beaver Dam girls basketball was given a #3 seed and will travel to #2 seed Germantown on Thursday night at 7pm in a WIAA Division One Sectional Semifinal.  The other side of the Sectional Bracket features #1 seed Kimberly and #4 seed Sheboygan North.

It may seem odd that a three-time defending state champion like Beaver Dam would receive a #3 seed in a Sectional with a 22-2 record, but this bracket is loaded as Kimberly was ranked #1 and Germantown #2 in last week’s AP and Division One Coaches Poll.   BD was 3rd in AP Poll and 4th in the Coaches Poll.

“It’s kind of what we probably deserved considering where we are at.  It wasn’t really a lot of drama there.”  Coach Tim Chase told  “I think both Kimberly and Germantown thought they probably deserved the one (seed).  Kimberly beat us so we don’t have an argument against them, and Germantown beat New Berlin Eisenhower and we didn’t.”

The Golden Beavers punched their ticket to the Sectional with a 55-35 Regional Final win over Slinger on Saturday afternoon.

Germantown (25-1) hammered Cedarburg 92-38 in their Regional Final on Saturday.   The Warhawks only loss of the season came on January 12th at Brookfield Central 63-52.  Germantown is led by sophomore Kamorea Arnold (22ppg) who is ranked Wisconsin’s #1 player in the class of 2023. Senior Jaelyn Acker (13ppg) is committed to play NCAA Division One college basketball at California Baptist.
