(Beaver Dam) Friday (11/16) is the deadline for those interested in participating in the Beaver Dam Holiday Parade. The event, now in its 27th year, will be held on the first Saturday of December.
Event Co-Chair Bev Beal-Loeck with Downtown Beaver Dam Inc. says the theme this year is “Holiday Movies.” She says winning entries must incorporate the theme and will be judged in the categories of Most Creative or Most Merry And Bright.
Beal-Loeck says there will be a new parade route this year focused on the downtown. Entries will still line-up on South Center Street and the route will officially begin at the intersection of Front and Center streets. Starting this year, the procession will turn from Front Street right onto South Spring Street instead of going all the way down to Lincoln Avenue, which is a residential neighborhood. From South Spring Street, the parade will turn right on Mill Street and end where it began.
The parade marshal’s this year are the past Holiday Parade organizers Kay Appenfeldt, Betty Reals, Ken Thomas and Glenna Vilman. An after party is planned at the Watermark Community and Senior Center, where parade winners will be announced.
