10/6/11 – An ordinance banning firearms from public buildings in Fox Lake was tabled the city council last night. Several councilmen raised concerns about the language in the ordinance during the public hearing, including Dan Ault who drew the council’s attention to an error in the first paragraph of the ordinance. Because that error needed to be changed the council moved to close the public hearing and then tabled the ordinance until their next meeting. The ordinance itself prohibits firearms in all public buildings unless previously approved by the chief of police. Most cities are trying to get ordinances on the books prior to the new conceal and carry laws go into effect November 1st.
