Fox Lake Named Tree City USA

(Fox Lake) The Arbor Day Foundation has named Fox Lake a 2018 Tree City USA for their commitment to effective urban forest management. Fox Lake earned this designation by meeting the programs four requirements: a tree board or department, a tree care ordinance, an annual community forestry budget of at least $2 per capita and an Arbor Day observance and proclamation. Arbor Day Foundation President Dan Lambe says recognition brings residents together and creates a sense of community pride, whether it’s through volunteer engagement or public education. Lambe says trees provide multiple benefits including increased property value and visual appeal, reduce home cooling costs, remove air pollutants and provide wildlife habitat.
