In an effort to find a less expensive option to comply with a court order and stop bypassing their wastewater treatment plant during times of heavy rain, the Fox Lake City Council tabled a motion that would have awarded a bid to build an equalization basin. Citing the current economic climate the city hopes to reopen negotiations with the Department of Justice and find a different solution than to pay the nearly $1.2M to build the basin. The council is expected to hold a special meeting before October 1st, which is when a grant application to help pay for the project is due.
