The Republican from Brookfield served in the Wisconsin Senator for 10 years, focusing on economic issues and serving as the primary sponsor of legislation giving tax credits to investors in startup companies. Former Governor Tommy Thompson called Kanavas “remarkable,” while current Governor Scott Walker called him “a great man” Friday. He was called a family man with a passion for politics.
