Former Sun Prairie Educator Charged with Child Sex Crimes

(SUN PRAIRIE) Charges were filed Monday against a former Sun Prairie West High School dean of students accused of child sex crimes.

Robert Gilkey-Meisegeier, 30, of Madison is charged with 13 counts of possession of child pornography and two counts of child sexual exploitation, online court record show.

Sun Prairie police announced Gilkey-Meisegeier’s arrest last week. Along with being the dean of students, Gilkey-Meisegeier was also a physical education teacher at Sun Prairie West High School.

Gilkey-Meisegeier’s cash bond was set at $75,000 during an initial court appearance Monday afternoon. Police said last week that there could be more arrests made in the case.

According to a criminal complaint, police began investigating in late May after a witness reported that a Sun Prairie West High School student was having sexual contact with school staff members, including Gilkey-Meisegeier, in the school’s In-School-Suspension room.

Another student allegedly told investigators that Gilkey-Meisegeier would purchase her alcohol in exchange for nude photographs.

The complaint alleges that detectives found a “My Eyes Only” file containing over 3,000 images while examining Gilkey-Meisegeier’s Snapchat account.

A search of Gilkey-Meisegeier’s private file allegedly uncovered 195 photos apparently taken without the knowledge of those in the photos. Many of the photos were allegedly taken from surveillance cameras in Sun Prairie West High School or the gym.

A preliminary hearing in the case is set for Aug. 5 at 3 p.m.
