Former State Legislator, Dodge County Supervisor Bob Goetsch Passes Away

(Beaver Dam) A former state legislator from Dodge County has passed away. Bob Goetsch served in Madison from 1982 through 2001, working on multiple committees – including Ways and Means, Urban and Local Affairs, Children and Families, and was chairperson of the Criminal Justice Committee.

In addition to the legislature, Goetsch was also a Dodge County Board supervisor from 1972 to 1984 and was chair of the Town of Oak Grove Board from 1971 to 1983. State Representative Mark Born of Beaver Dam discussed his relationship with Goetsch with us Friday on WBEV’s Community Comment that Goetsch and also released a statement:

“I am saddened today to hear of the passing of my friend and mentor, former State Representative Robert Goetsch. For me personally, Bob was always there whenever I needed advice or guidance. He was a dedicated public servant who served his country in the United States Army, his community in a number of roles including as an Oak Grove Town Board member and chairman and as a Dodge County Board member, and the State of Wisconsin as a Representative in the Assembly. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.”

The funeral service for Goetsch will be held at the Koepsell-Murray Funeral Home in Beaver Dam on July 10, with a gathering/visitation at 9:30am until the time of service, starting at 11:30am. A luncheon reception will follow at Bayside Supper Club in Beaver Dam.

Robert Goetsch was 87-years-old.
