Former Fox Lake Corrections Officer Convicted of Smuggling Cell Phones

(Fox Lake) A former Fox Lake Correctional officer was sentenced Tuesday to 30 days in jail with work release privileges for smuggling illegal contraband to an inmate. Peggy Noll of Watertown entered a no contest plea to one felony count of Delivering Illegal Articles to an Inmate. In September of 2016, a confidential informant told officers that a prisoner was in possession of a cell phone. Over the course of the investigation, several months’ worth of food and clothing items unavailable to inmates were located in the prisoner’s cell. Investigators were able to identify Noll’s voice from phone conversations with the inmate. In talking with officers, Noll denied bringing in any contraband and said (quote), “nothing happened here.” In addition to jail time, the 58-year-old was placed on probation for one year and must complete 40 hours of community service.
