Former Fox Lake Corrections Officer Convicted of Smuggling Cell Phones

(Fox Lake) A former Fox Lake Correctional officer was sentenced Tuesday to 30 days in jail with work release privileges for smuggling illegal contraband to an inmate. Peggy Noll of Watertown entered a no contest plea to one felony count of Delivering Illegal Articles to an Inmate. In September of 2016, a confidential informant told officers that a prisoner was in possession of a cell phone. Over the course of the investigation, several monthsโ€™ worth of food and clothing items unavailable to inmates were located in the prisonerโ€™s cell. Investigators were able to identify Nollโ€™s voice from phone conversations with the inmate. In talking with officers, Noll denied bringing in any contraband and said (quote), โ€œnothing happened here.โ€ In addition to jail time, the 58-year-old was placed on probation for one year and must complete 40 hours of community service.
