(Fond du Lac) A former Fond du Lac restaurant owner has been federally indicted on arson charges. Arletta Allen is facing charges of Arson in Connection with a Federal Felony, Wire Fraud and Attempted Wire Fraud, and Making False Statements to Law Enforcement.
According to the indictment, in October of 2021 Allen maliciously damaged a restaurant known as A Family Affair Soulfood Kitchen by fire. The business is located at 417 South Main Street in the city of Fond du Lac.
The indictment further alleges that the 43-year-old executed a scheme to defraud Germantown Mutual Insurance Company by setting fire to the restaurant and signing a sworn proof of loss claim seeking insurance proceeds for losses caused by the blaze. Prosecutors accuse Allen of falsely representing that she did not cause or procure the fire.
The indictment also alleged that Allen lied to law enforcement officers on multiple occasions about her activities and location prior to the fire. If convicted on all counts, Allen faces up to 50 years in prison.
