Former Corrections Officer Heading To Trial For Smuggling

(Fox Lake) A former Fox Lake Correctional officer accused smuggling contraband to an inmate is heading to trial. Peggy Noll of Watertown has waived her right to a preliminary hearing on one felony charge of Delivering Illegal Articles to an Inmate. In September of 2016, a confidential informant told officers that a prisoner was in possession of a cell phone. Over the course of the investigation, several months’ worth of food and clothing items unavailable to inmates were located in the prisoner’s cell. Investigators were able to identify Noll’s voice from phone conversations with the inmate. In talking with officers, Noll denied bringing in any contraband and said (quote), “nothing happened here.” If convicted, the 58-year-old faces up to three-and-a-half-years in prison. She will be arraigned next month.
