Former Correctional Officer Sentenced For Assault

4/12/17 –  A former officer at Fox Lake Correctional Institution was placed on probation after pleading no contest yesterday to charges that he harassed an inmate. Thomas Lukas was originally facing one felony charge of Abusing Residents of Penal Facilities but entered an Alford plea to three reduced misdemeanor counts of Disorderly Conduct. The 45-year-old made sexual contact and racial comments to the same inmate on several occasions between 2011 and 2013.  Incidents included throwing a toilet brush at the inmate and grabbing the man’s privates. As part of an Alford Plea, a defendant concedes there is sufficient evidence to be found guilty but does not admit to the act.
