Former Correction Officer Placed on Probation

9/8/12 – A former corrections officer from Waupun, who smuggled various items inside the institution for a prisoner, has been placed on two years’ probation. Patricia Kok of Fond du Lac pleaded no contest in July to a felony count of Delivering Illegal Articles to an Inmate. Kok then spent three months in the Winnebago Mental Health Institute. The 47-year-old is said to have brought culinary magazines and clothes to the inmate in the Waupun Correctional Institution, where the two worked in the Food Service Area. Kok also engaged in phone sex with the prisoner and provided him with money to obtain a lawyer to re-open his case. She told investigators that she knew it was wrong but wanted to help him make plans for school when he gets out. On Thursday, Kok had a three year prison sentence imposed and stayed so if she violates her probation she will automatically have to spend one year in prison and two years on extended supervision, with 90 days credit for time served in Mendota.
