A former Columbus man was killed in a forklift accident earlier this week in Shawano County. Walter P. Maron of Iron River was died Monday after being trapped under a forklift while hauling wood in the town of Washington, just east of Cecil. According to the Shawano County Sheriff’s Department, the 69-year-old apparently lost control of the forklift on an incline and the vehicle rolled on top of him. Maron was pronounced dead at the scene.
