Fond Du Lac Man Accused Of Crashing Into Verizon Store Pleads Not Guilty

(Fond du Lac) A Fond du Lac County man who crashed into a Verizon store has plead not guilty. Benjamin Ayer was behind the wheel of a car that smashed through the glass walls of the Verizon showroom, injuring five.

A Fond du Lac police officer testified during Ayer’s preliminary hearing that the 20-year-old admitted to huffing duster spray at a nearby parking lot before driving his vehicle. Ayer’s defense attorney Kirk W. Everson sets a different scenario for his client.

“This could have very well been an independent medical condition or emergency,” says Everson.

Ayer could face more than 12 years in prison, if convicted.
