Fond Du Lac High School Students Return As Social Media Threat Was Determined To Be Unsubstantiated

(Fond du Lac) Fond du Lac High School Students return to class Wednesday after an apparent threat made against the facility was determined to be unsubstantiated. Classes were cancelled Tuesday as the Fond du Lac Police Department investigated the threat made on the social media platform Snapchat Monday.

Detectives traced the posting back to three high school students who were interviewed along with a male subject who was attributed to making the threatening comments. They discovered last Thursday, a student allegedly overhead the male individual say he had a gun while walking through a hallway.

The student said they did not see any weapon or hear any specific threats to harm anyone. Authorities say this student did not report this comment to any staff or law enforcement. Fond du Lac police learned of this incident Monday, as the unsubstantiated comment was shared through other social medial platforms. The Department says there is no evidence of danger.

Authorities are working closely with the district to ensure student safety and will provide an increased presence around all facilities as students return to class. The Fond du Lac Police Department encourages students and families to immediately report any suspicious activity or a potential act of violence rather than spreading the information to others.
