(Fond du Lac) Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s deputies arrested 15 suspected impaired drivers during the recent “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” campaign. The campaign focused on deterring impaired driving and ran between December 17th and New Year’s Day.
During the effort citations were issued for 61 speeding violations, 48 driving after revocations or suspension violations, nine traffic sign violations, and 11 felony arrests were made. Eight of those arrests were for drug possession or trafficking, and three arrests were for bail jumping.
Sheriff Ryan Waldschmidt says drunken driving is entirely preventable. He adds that authorities firmly believe that their intensified enforcement during the crackdown and throughout the upcoming year will help deter people from driving if they are impaired. Waldschmidt says they are striving to reduce the number of preventable traffic deaths to zero in Wisconsin.
