Fond du Lac County Board Could Rescind Sunset On Sales Tax

(Fond du Lac) In coming months, the Fond du Lac County Board will be asked to rescind the sunset date on the half-percent county sales tax. County Board Chairperson Marty Farrell says the sales tax helps with economic development efforts and in maintaining highways. He says most county supervisors believe the sunset would be a mistake to give up the $8.3 million a year the county is receiving in revenue from the sales tax. If the tax is rescinded the county is considering distributing $1 million from the tax to cities, towns and villages in the county.
