Fond Du Lac County Authorities Say Deceased Domestic Suspect Shot At Girlfriend

(Taycheedah) Fond du Lac County authorities say a suspect who died after apparently shooting himself Sunday was armed and fired a round at his girlfriend during a domestic dispute. Deputies were called to a residence after midnight after a physical altercation occurred between the 29-year-old suspect and his 36-year-old girlfriend. Sheriff Ryan Waldschmidt says the man grabbed a handgun and fired one round in the direction of the female, who escaped and called 911. He says a friend of the suspect arrived at the property and allowed the 29-year-old to hide in the trunk of his vehicle while attempting to transport him to a different location. The vehicle was later stopped by law enforcement and after several minutes of negotiations, the suspect suffered a self-inflicted gunshot wound and died a local hospital. No deputies discharged their weapon at the scene. The Sheboygan County Sheriff’s Office is investigating what happened during the traffic stop while Fond du Lac authorities are investigating what occurred at the Taycheedah residence.
