Tactical Situation Resolved In Taycheedah, Suspect Found Dead With Apparent Self-Inflicted Gunshot Wound

(Taycheedah) The suspect in a domestic dispute in the town of Taycheedah died of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound Monday. Fond du Lac County deputies responded to the private residence on Niagara Lane around 9:30am.

During the dispute, the male suspect armed himself with a firearm and a woman at the residence was able to flee the property unharmed. When law enforcement arrived, they heard what sounded like a gunshot but authorities note that has not been positively confirmed. Tactical drone and K-9 teams, among other specialized units, were dispatched to the scene to resolve the situation.

Residents in the vicinity were asked to shelter in place and the public were asked to avoid closed roadways. Deputies found the suspect deceased on the property around 12:50pm. No other citizens, law enforcement, or other first responders were injured.

Sheriff Ryan Waldschmidt says no law enforcement force was used during the incident. He says detectives remained on scene to collect evidence. The case is still under investigation.
