(Friendship) Fond du Lac County authorities battled a porch fire early Monday morning. Crews responded to N9564 Van Dyne Road in the town of Friendship around 3:35am.
The blaze was controlled in short order and residents that were evacuated from an attached structure were able to return to their units. The cause of the fire is attributed to a resident smoking a cigarette near the deck. Authorities say the deck and the items on it were a total loss.
They add that firefighting efforts created minor damage to the structure to ensure that the fire had not entered any closed spaces. There were no injuries reported.
