(JUNEAU) Flooding is now a growing concern across Dodge County after this week’s severe storms, with more rain possible Friday.
Safety officials are urging people to take the threat seriously, warning that floodwater can move quickly and carry dangerous debris, chemicals, and bacteria. Even a small amount of moving water can sweep away a car.
They’re also reminding homeowners to be careful after the water recedes. That includes checking drinking water, especially for private wells, and cleaning and disinfecting anything touched by floodwater. Items that stay wet for more than a couple of days may need to be thrown out because of mold.
Officials stress that the safest move is to avoid floodwater altogether and stay tuned to local updates if conditions worsen.
With more storms in the forecast, they say now is the time to prepare and stay alert. Click HERE for more information.
