5/3/17 – Fire damaged a Markesan bar early Tuesday morning. Crews responded to Stubby’s Bar on South Bridge Street at 2:13am. Authorities say the bar sustained severe structural damage while neighboring apartments had fire and water damage and two other buildings suffered smoke damage. Two people were displaced from the apartments and one person was treated for smoke inhalation and released a short time later. The scene was cleared at 8:20am. The cause of the fire is under routine investigation by the Grand River Fire District with the assistance of Markesan Police. Grand River Fire was assisted at the scene by departments from Beaver Dam, Kingston, Ripon, Princeton, Waupun, Brandon-Fairwater, Randolph, Friesland and Alto along with the Green Lake County Sheriff’s Office, Markesan Emergency Government, Alliant Energy and the American Red Cross.
