Fire Damages Town of Beaver Dam Home

(Beaver Dam) Fire damaged a home in the Town of Beaver Dam Monday night. Crews responded to the home owned by Mike Guenther at W9095 Canary Road just after 8pm. Deputy Fire Chief Matt Christian says tenants Dan and Jackie Chase reported smoke coming from vents on the roof. Firefighters were able access the home and reach the attic space where they found hot embers inside insulation and wood support. A hose line was used to put out the hot materials.  Moderate smoke and water damage was reported. The cause was determined to be electrical. Dated wiring was found between the first and second floors that caused an arc, generating heat. The family, who exited the home before the fire department arrived, was displaced and will be staying with relatives in the area.  Crews were on scene for about two hours. No injuries were reported. Beaver Dam was assisted by fire departments in Horicon, Juneau, Watertown, Hustisford, Lowell and Burnett.
