(Beaver Dam) Fire damaged a 16-unit, multi- family apartment building in Beaver Dam early this morning. Crews responded to 1256 Wayland Street at 12:19am after the fire was reported by one of the building tenants. Deputy Chief Matt Christian says upon arrival, smoke and flames were seen coming from the lower, rear apartment. All resident were evacuated from the apartment building as fire crews worked to extinguish the blaze. Fire damage was contained to the apartment flames originated. Smoke damage extended to an upper apartment. Five people from the two apartments affected where displaced but all other residents were able to return to their apartments. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the Beaver Dam Police and Fire departments. The scene was cleared after around hours. One minor injury was reported and that person was not transported by ambulance. Beaver Dam was assisted by fire departments from Fox Lake, Horicon, Juneau, Watertown and Hustisford along with Alliant Energy.
