(Madison) The public is encouraged to head to Madison Saturday night to greet veterans returning from a day in Washington D.C. Madison-based Badger Honor Flight has its fifth and final flight for the 2019 season on Saturday. Once the flight lands, the veterans will spend the day touring various sites including Arlington National Cemetery, the Lincoln Memorial, and the Iwo Jima, World War II, Korean, Vietnam, and Air Force monuments. Organizer Jim Bublitz says there are a total of 87 veterans taking the flight this weekend; one from World War II, three Korean veterans and 83 Vietnam veterans. Bublitz says veterans from Beaver Dam, Juneau, Watertown and Waupun are among the 87 going. Upon returning to Madison, Bublitz encourages the public to arrive at the airport around 7:30pm and says the flight should land around 8:45pm. In the past there have been five planned flights each year, organizers are hoping to increase that number to six in 2020. For more information visit www.badgerhonorflight.org.
