3/24/17 – Sales of existing houses dropped slightly in February, compared to the same month a year ago. But the Wisconsin Realtors Association says the median price of homes sold by its members still went up by 6%, as the result of a shortage on the market. Realtors reported selling 3,566 existing houses last month throughout the Badger State — almost 100 fewer than in February of 2016. The median price was almost $156,000, up from $147,000 the previous year. In Dodge County, there were 44 homes sold last month, five less than last February. The median sales price in Dodge County was 16% higher at just under $128,000 compared to $110,000 a year ago. Realtors’ board chairman Eric Sjowall says February is normally a slow month for home sales — but his group would have expected more sales, considering the low mortgage rates and the strength of the economy.
