Father Of The Bride Details Rascal Flatts Wedding Appearance

6/28/17 – We’re learning more details about the events that led to the county group Rascal Flatts playing over the weekend at a wedding in Watertown. Sara and Brandon McGinnis tied the knot at the Sugar Island Barn on Saturday when Gary LeVox, Jay DeMarcus and Joe Don Rooney crashed the party. The trio was in Wisconsin to perform at Country U-S-A Oshkosh. The bride and groom did not know the members of the band. The bride’s father, Jeff Spern says a friend contacted the group last October after noticing their tour schedule coincided with the wedding. The friend got a generic email back saying thanks for inquiring. But then the bride received an anonymous call from representatives of the group asking for her wedding planner. Sara gave them the phone number of her sister and maid-of-honor. Representatives from the group started laying the groundwork two months ago and made sure their appearance would not detract from the wedding. Sara’s maid-of-honor kept the secret to herself until last Thursday, when she let her boyfriend in on the plan because she needed to provide the band with a back-up cell phone number. She got choked-up during her maid-of-honor speech once she realized that it was actually going to happen. That’s because she could feel her cell phone ringing inside her cowboy boot and knew they were ready to come in. The musicians even went so far as to find out where the couple was registered and got them a gift. Rascal Flatts performed the single “Bless the Broken Road” which was the song the couple had already picked anyway to be their first song as a married couple. The group flew into Green Bay, drove down to Watertown and then drove north to Oshkosh. Spern got choked himself when he told us that (quote) “everything about the wedding was just incredible.”
