FALL RIVER PUNCHES TICKET TO STATE

The Fall River High School boys basketball team is heading to the WIAA State Tournament after outlasting Heritage Christian 82-75 in overtime at Watertown on Saturday in a Division Five Sectional Final.

The Pirates went to the halftime locker room with 28-24 four lead but found themselves trailing 63-60 late in the 2nd half   Zack Osterhaus sent the game into OT when he drilled a three-pointer with just 1.2 seconds left in regulation. The extra period saw Fall River outscored the Patriots 19-12 to advance to the state tournament for the first time since 2000.

Cullen Rauls led the Pirates with 28 while Osterhaus added 13.   Colin Vieth (12), Shavlik Schultz (12) and Ceegan Rauls (10) also scored in double figures for Arnie Oelke’s squad.    Desmond Jones led Heritage Christian with 28 as their season ends at 25-3/

Fall River will play in the WIAA Division Five Semifinals at the Kohl Center in Madison on Friday morning.  The matchups will be determined on Sunday.  You’ll hear the game on 1430 ESPN.
