Fall River High School Evacuated Due To Nearby Gas Leak

(Fall River) A nearby gas leak caused the Fall River School District to be evacuated Friday morning. Superintendent Michael Garrow says at around 7:40am school staff was notified of the damaged gas line near Prairie Street. He says due to odor and wind direction a decision was made to evacuate the school. Students and staff first gathered at the front of the school and were shuttled to the Fall River fire house. He says following a walk-through of the school emergency personal determined that the leak no longer posed a threat. Garrow says officials with the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office, local fire and police officers announced at roughly 8:10am that students and staff could safely return. He says the evacuation had a minimal impact on school activities and classes. He also thanked the Fall River Police and Fire Department as well as the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office for their quick action.
