Chili Cook Off
December 5 @ 11:30 AM - 4:00 PM
Tanya’s Leipsic Tavern will host the second annual Chili Cook Off fundraiser for Nation of Patriots on Sunday, Dec. 5.
The Chili Cook Off begins at 11:30 a.m. at Tanya’s Leipsic Tavern, N5683 County Rd. G, and includes the competition, a silent auction and drink specials. Competitors may register at the tavern on the day of the event. The public is welcome and encouraged to attend, sample and vote, organizers said. All proceeds will benefit the Nation of Patriots and support disabled veterans and their families.
“Nation of Patriots is fortunate to partner with Tanya’s Leipsic Tavern to bring the Beaver Dam-area community together to support veterans. Last year, we had a great turnout but we hope that this will grow year by year,” said Wade Fletcher, a Nation of Patriots regional volunteer. “We invite all to join us for the Chili Cook Off, to taste, to cook or to shop the silent auction.”
Nation of Patriots is dedicated to honoring those who protect American freedom by uniting Americans under the U.S. flag, said Bill Sherer, the organization’s founder and executive director. As an all-volunteer nonprofit organization, Nation of Patriots contributes 100 percent of funds raised to veterans in need as identified by Veterans Administration facilities and other veterans organizations across the country.
“We are grateful for the continued support that we receive from the Beaver Dam community and Tanya’s Leipsic Tavern,” Sherer said. “Our ability to make a positive impact in the lives of veterans and their families across the country is fueled by donations and events like the Chili Cook Off.”
Nation of Patriots has raised more than $1.5 million since its inception in 2009, Sherer said.
Nation of Patriots was founded by Sherer in Milwaukee in 2009. He was inspired to take action after witnessing the hardships his friends endured upon returning to the U.S. from active duty on foreign soil. Nation of Patriots works nationally to financially support and increase awareness of the physical, emotional and economic adversity that disabled veterans and their families live with today and every day.
