DOT Holding Public meeting To Discuss Highway 18 Project In Jefferson County

(Helenville) The Wisconsin Department of Transportation is holding a public involvement meeting to discuss a Highway 18 project in Jefferson County. The scope of the project includes removing the first layer of a retaining wall in Helenville. Excavation behind the wall will occur in locations where the wall panels are tipping toward the sidewalk.

The select wall panels will be removed and re-set so they are in line with the rest of the wall. Transportation officials say the area behind the wall will then be backfilled and the new layer will be cast in place along its entire length. They add that the railing will be removed and re-set in its existing location.

The public involvement meeting is scheduled for November 14th from 5:30pm to 6:30pm at the Helenville Fire Station. The DOT says the meetings objective is to familiarize the public with the purpose and need for the project as well as to get input on the proposed improvements.
