10/6/11 – Four state parks that remain closed in Door County will re-open Thursday, after crews removed fallen trees and fixed buildings that were damaged in last week’s wind-storm. The D-N-R said today that Peninsula, Potawatomi, Whitefish Dunes, and Newport state parks will open its doors at eight a-m tomorrow. They’ve been closed since winds of up to 69-miles-an-hour caused damage and cut off power to the park facilities. Officials say all the power’s back on, and the buildings and sewers have been repaired. Final repairs are being made today. Two other Door County facilities – Rock Island State Park and the Ahnapee State Trail – re-opened Wednesday morning.
