5/20/12 – If you go to Minnesota’s Twin Cities, don’t be surprised to see a kayak on the roof of a taxi. Tourism officials from Door County arranged to put the kayaks on seven cabs, to encourage Minnesotans to try kayaking on the county’s 300 miles of shoreline along Lake Michigan and the Bay of Green Bay. The advertising gimmick appears to be working. Jack Moneypenny of the Door County Visitor Bureau says it’s been attracting steady traffic to the Door County-Dot-Com Web site. The bureau also talked about running the promotion in Milwaukee and Chicago, but cab companies in the Twin Cities’ area were most receptive. The kayaks will eventually be given away as prizes.
