Donna J. Schoenfeld Ed.D
Donna J. Schoenfeld, age 62 of Normal, IL, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, May 13, 2019 in Normal, IL.
Donna was born in Beaver Dam on October 17, 1956, the daughter of Verlin and Evelyn (Keller) Schoenfeld. She graduated from Beaver Dam High School in 1974 and attended college in UW- LaCrosse, where she received her B.S. in Pyschology. She received her M.S. in Psychology from Central Washington University before receiving her Ed.D. from Northern Illinois University. Throughout her career, Donna taught at UW-River Falls, UW-Whitewater, Rutgers University, Marquette, Northern Illinois University, and Illinois State University, where she currently served as Assistant Vice President and as an Instructional Assistant Professor in the College Student Personnel Administration program. During her time at NIU, Donna worked on numerous initiatives as director of Wellness Promotion. She also taught UNIV 101 and courses in the Department of Counseling and Higher Education. She was an active participant in the campus recovery from the February 14, 2008 tragedy where she served as a liaison for impacted students and families. In her free time, Donna enjoyed spending time with her cats and her two Huskies.
Donna is survived by her siblings, Robert (Kay) Schoenfeld of Beaver Dam, Lee (Mary) Schoenfeld of Fox Lake, Daryl (Brenda) Schoenfeld of Beaver Dam, and Lori Schoenfeld of Beaver Dam; and further survived by several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and other relatives.
A memorial gathering for Donna will take place on Monday, May 20, 2019 at Cornerstone Funeral & Cremation Services, 135 Keller Blvd, Beaver Dam from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. Inurnment will take place at Oakwood Cemetery at a later date.
