Donate Life Reaches Milestone

10/14/11 – Wisconsin’s official registry for organ donors has reached a big milestone. One million people have registered online with Donate Life Wisconsin. And the state’s First Lady, Tonette Walker, announced the achievement at a news conference in Milwaukee this morning. The registry began more than a year-and-a-half ago. It provides a clear record of people’s intentions to donate organs, tissues, and eyes for transplants. For years, potential organ donors have placed orange dots on their drivers’ licenses. It shows their intent to medical personnel and authorities investigating things like fatal accidents. But those symbols were not official or binding, like the registry is.
