Dog Rescued, Firefighter Hurt in Beaver Dam Duplex Fire

(BEAVER DAM) A dog is safe and one firefighter is recovering from minor injuries after a fire broke out Monday afternoon at a duplex in Beaver Dam.

Fire crews were called around 2 p.m. to 502 North Spring Street, where police confirmed an active fire when they arrived, according to the Beaver Dam Fire Department.

Firefighters quickly put out the flames with help from police. During the response, officers rescued a dog from the adjoining residence, which wasn’t directly affected by the fire but shared part of the structure.

The injured firefighter was treated at a local emergency department.

Crews stayed on scene to make sure the fire was completely out and to check for hidden hot spots. Officials say the cause is still under investigation, and damage estimates weren’t immediately available.
