7/26/11 – Dodgeland Education Association Head Negotiator Bruce Rampanelli says he reviewed a recent version of the polices adopted by the school board last night and says he did not see anything that would be viewed negatively by any of the teachers. Rampanelli says if there was one negative with the process it was that the teachers association was not invited to sit in on policy development meetings, which he says was part of a policy that had already been in place. Superintendent Thompson says the meetings were all held in open session and were clearly posted. As far as teacher evaluations, Rampanelli disagrees with claims that layoffs used to be based primarily on seniority and says the teachers association supports the proposed assessment model. Teachers are still able to negotiate for salary increases at or below inflation; those negotiations will not be taking place until at least September.
