(Dodge County) There was an uptick in jobless claims in the region from May to June. The state Department of Workforce Development says the unemployment rate in Dodge County last month was 3.7-percent, up a half-point from the 3.2-percent reported in May but well below the 7.1-percent logged last June. The same numbers were reported in Fond du Lac County except last year’s rate was at 8.4-percent. There was also a half-point increase in Columbia County as last month saw a 3.9-percent, one year after they experienced a rate of eight-percent. Jefferson County increased four-tenths to 5.5-percent after posting a 7.2-percent in 2020. Statewide jobless numbers held steady over the two-month period at 3.9-percent, well below the national rate of 5.9-percent.
