(Dodge County) Jobless filings in Dodge County are once again below three-percent. According to figures released yesterday (Thursday) by the state Department of Workforce Development, the unemployment rate was 2.9-percent last month, down one-tenth from July but a half-percent higher than August of last year. Washington County also recorded a 2.9-percent after dropping one-tenth. Jefferson and Columbia counties are both down one-tenth to three-percent even. Fond du Lac County held steady from July to August at 3.2-percent. Green Lake County declined two-tenths to 3.5-percent. All counties in the region were around a half-percentage point lower at this time last year. Dane and Iowa counties had the lowest rate in the state at 2.5-percent while Menominee County was the highest at 13.4-percent. In total, unemployment declined or stayed the same in 61 of the state’s 72 counties. The seasonally adjusted jobless rate in Wisconsin last month was up one-tenth to 3.1-percent. The national rate was unchanged at 3.7-percent.
