Dodge County Traffic Safety Commission July 4th Driving Safety

(Dodge County)  With the Independence Day holiday right around the corner, the Dodge County Traffic Safety Commission is reminding drivers to practice caution when traveling for the Holiday.  Dodge County Traffic Safety coordinator Joel Kiesow says that Americans love to Celebrate the 4th of July with family, friends, food, and fireworks; but all too often the festivities turn tragic.  He continues saying this iconic American holiday is also one of the deadliest holidays of the year due to drunk-driving crashes.  In 2018 the United States saw 601 traffic fatalities during the 4th of July holiday period of which 11 happened within the state of Wisconsin.  Thirty-nine percent of those fatalities involved alcohol impaired crashes.  Drivers are reminded to utilize safety belts every trip, every time, and take advantage of sober driver programs or a designated driver when celebrating this 4th of July and throughout the year.
